Bluff Creek Marina
-
I’m heading out to Bluff Creek Marina this weekend for my first lake day in years, and I want to make sure I don’t forget anything essential. I’ve got sunscreen and towels on the list, but I feel like I’m missing some obvious things people don’t think about until they’re already out on the water. Any tips from experienced folks on what to pack for a full day on a rental boat? Especially with kids in tow?

Hey , great question — packing for a boat day can sneak up on you if you’re not careful! Aside from sunscreen and towels, don’t forget a dry bag for your electronics, extra water (seriously, it’s easy to underestimate), light snacks that won’t melt, and a cooler with ice packs if you're planning to stay a while. Also, hats with a chin strap (lake winds are no joke), extra clothes for the kiddos, and motion sickness meds just in case.
We’ve rented from Bluff Creek before and had a blast, but I made the mistake of forgetting phone chargers and we had no music or pics after two hours 😅. If you’re still browsing your options, or want to get more info on what’s included, you can check out their boat rentals page — super helpful for planning ahead, especially for figuring out what they provide vs. what you’ll need to bring.

And maybe a deck of waterproof cards — surprisingly fun during downtimes or when you anchor for lunch.
